People At Prayer

Prayer is a worshippers most personal religious act. Teaching, preaching, serving on committees, singing,... are all important but subordinated acts performed in organized religious activity. Prayer, in comparison, is one to One. It is a private expression of adoration, confession, petition and surrender to the Lord. Jesus stressed that prayer should be sincere, straight forward and private. His own last prayer was "Father, into Thy hands I commend my spirit."
These statues are intended to remind us of the great personalities of the Bible who communed with God. When researching their lives, we find that they spent more time listening to God than petitioning Him. I have depicted these personalities on their knees and all the creations are approximately the same size and height, thus reminding us that we are all equal when we come before God in prayer.
